German Krupp Protze & Pak 35259 1/35
As Germany mobilized its military following Hitler's seizure of power in 1934, the Wehrmacht's Weapons Department began converting civilian vehicles into military assets. One such vehicle was the Krupp Company's L2H43 light truck, popularly known as the "Boxer" due to its air-cooled flat-four square 4-cylinder engine. Mass-produced from 1933, the Boxer was capable of reaching speeds up to 70km/h.
In 1936, an enhanced version, the L2H143, was developed, boosting the truck's horsepower from 55hp to 60hp. This updated version underwent several improvements, leading to various configurations, such as the personnel transport Kfz.70. The designation "Kfz." was used to categorize military transport vehicles, with numbers 1-30 referring to passenger cars and 31-100 to trucks.
The Krupp Protze Kfz.69, a notable variant of this line, was specifically designed to tow a 3.7cm PAK 35/36 anti-tank gun. This vehicle could also be equipped with ammunition cases. In German military terminology, "Protze" referred to a front-towed carriage used to carry ammunition and gunners, with a cannon hitched to its rear.
From the outset of WWII, the Krupp Protze Kfz.69 became standard equipment in anti-tank artillery divisions. It was actively deployed across various battlefronts, including France, Poland, the Balkans, and Russia, playing a crucial role in Germany's military operations.
