In 1939, BSA adapted their M20 commercial motorcycle for military use, equipping it with a Lucas light and other essential modifications to meet wartime demands.

Powered by a robust 12hp single-cylinder 500cc side-valve engine, the M20 was celebrated for its superb reliability and ease of maintenance. Throughout its production, the motorcycle underwent various improvements, including the addition of an air filter fitted onto the fuel tank in late-war models.
