The Rubicon Models 1/56 scale Centurion Mk 5 / Mk 5/1 kit showcases one of the most successful post-World War II tank designs. As the primary British Army main battle tank, the Centurion saw extensive combat from its introduction in 1945 through to the 1980s. This model kit provides a detailed and versatile construction experience for enthusiasts and collectors.

Historical Significance: The Centurion tank, developed in 1943 and introduced in 1945, was pivotal in numerous conflicts. Its initial combat was in the Korean War (1950) and it continued to serve in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, Vietnam War, various Middle Eastern conflicts including the Six-Day War (1967) and Yom Kippur War (1973), and the South African Border War.

Global Deployment: The Centurion was adopted by numerous armies worldwide, seeing modifications and adaptations for various roles, including armored personnel carriers and combat engineering vehicles. Its widespread use and adaptability ensured its longevity in military service.

Kit Features
Build Options: The kit allows for the construction of either the Mk 5 or Mk 5/1 variant.

Mk 5: Features include Browning machine guns mounted coaxially and on the commander's cupola, a reshaped turret roof, deletion of the turret roof mortar, and an additional stowage bin on the glacis. Vehicle weight: 51 tons.
Mk 5/1 (FV 4011): Enhanced glacis armor, two coaxial machine guns (.30 caliber and .50 caliber Browning for ranging the 84mm main gun), and other detailed improvements.
Detailed Construction: The model provides options for all hatches to be open or closed, with or without side skirts, and includes an optional dozer blade for further customization.

Versatility: The kit can be configured to represent Centurions used in post-WW2 scenarios or during the Vietnam War.

Accessories and Crew: Includes a tank commander figure to enhance the model’s realism.

Construction Materials: This plastic kit requires ABS cement for assembly, ensuring a sturdy and durable build.
