The Rubicon Models SdKfz 251/16 Flammpanzerwagen expansion set enables modelers to convert their existing SdKfz 251/1 kits into the flamethrower variant used by the German Wehrmacht during World War II. This expansion kit provides the necessary parts and figures to recreate this specialized and fearsome vehicle, which played a significant role in German infantry assaults.
Historical Background
SdKfz 251/16: This variant of the SdKfz 251/1 was equipped with two flame projectors and, in the Ausf C model, an additional rear-mounted flamethrower. This rear flamethrower was detachable but remained connected to the vehicle for operation by dismounted infantry.
Deployment and Use: Six SdKfz 251/16 vehicles were typically assigned to each Panzergrenadier regiment or Pioneer battalion. Despite their vulnerability, these vehicles were effective, especially in night operations, for quickly counterattacking and dislodging enemy infantry who had captured German positions.
